The main business for the branch is to lobby and advocate for equal opportunities for children with disabilities. This is done by working with Government, NGOs and other DPOs in the formulation and implementation of policies e.g. Health, Education, Social welfare, and economic empowerment. The branch also undertakes the following functions:

MOBILIZATION
 

v  MOBILIZATION of parents of children with disabilities in the city who are not members to join the branch.

This is done through mobilization campaigns that involve home vivits and information sharing at  and during meetings

 

 

v  SOURCING OF AIDS And RESOURCES

We make our role to source special walking aids and other adaptive devices for the children from well-wishers and donors.

 

PARENT TO PARENT SUPPORT

v CAPACITY BUILDING: Through trainings for its leadership and members. Trainings include Leadership, Training of trainers, Stimulation and Activities of daily living. v ECONOMIC EMPOWEREMENT : Through group projects and training in the running of small-scale enterprises.

 

v  INFORMATION And AWARENESS:

Through publicity campaigns, electronic and print media we inform the society about disability and encourage them to take an active role in disability issues so as to promote positive attitudes towards disability and living with the disabled.

v  NETWORKING:

With other DPOs NGO; s and Government departments to coordinate support and services for children with disabilities and promote their welf
